Web 2.0: Google Drive (Spreadsheets)


  1. Computers Out.
  2. Log into Google Drive
  3. Create a new spreadsheet in your Google Drive shared folder
  4. Title it Drive Spreadsheets
  5. Enter the following starting at A2 working down the column:
Facebook
Instagram
SnapChat
Vine
LinkedIn
Other

  • Add column headers: Social Network & Total
  • Take a class vote on which social networks students use and enter the total #'s in the next column.
  • Use a function to add up the total votes
  • Then create a pie chart on the same sheet.
  • Add a new SHEET titled October 2014, find a household budget template and copy & paste it to the new sheet

Make sure you name the spreadsheet drag it into our shared folder,

1) Perform an Internet search (i.e. blogspot + food) and research at least 3 blogs that interest you (school appropriate). Add those blogs to your Google dashboard (Reading List) as a blog that you follow.       

2) After you have done that, read a recent article from 1 of the blogs and post a constructive comment on it. The comment will be your opinion on that particular post, not 1 word, not a sentence, at least 1 paragraph.


3) You will then comment on this post with the following:
    1. A Hyperlink of the URL from the the article that includes your comment so I can review.

Tech Lit Sept 23: Spreadsheet Charts

DO NOW:


  1. Open up your SAMPLE spreadsheet from yesterday's class.
  2. rename it: Cell Phone Providers
  3. Enter the following starting at A2 working down the column and the #'s go in column b:

Sprint
Verizon
AT&T
T-Mobile
Other

   4.  Take a class vote on which providers students use and enter the total #'s in the next column. If you do not have a cell phone, just choose a company you like!
   5. Use a function to add up the # of votes
   6.  Then create a pie chart on the same sheet.
   7. Next create a bar graph on a new sheet.

Make sure you use the same spreadsheet so I can check it.

Project:

2013/2014 Snow Storm Totals

CREATE A NEW SHEET FROM YOUR EXISTING SPREADSHEET. RENAME IT: SNOW

  1. Visit this site for you data
  2. Find the nearest location to Wood-Ridge for each snow event (20 total events)
  3. Beginning in A2, enter the date (s) for the storm
  4. Beginning in the next column enter the town you received you data from
  5. In the next column, enter the snow total (in inches) for the storm
  6. Create a function below the last inch amount that totals up the # of inches for all storms
  7. Below that, create a formula that displays the average snow amount for each storm
  8. Create 2 different charts that represent each storm and the snow amount.

Web 2.0/Tech: Setting up your Google Account

Work Due Wednesday 9/10

  1. Create a Google Account if you don't have one already 10 points
  2. Send me an email to dporfido@wood-ridgeschools.org from your GMAIL (subject will be: Period _), can be about what you did over the summer (1-3 sentences) and include an attachment of a photo of your favorite vacation spot. 30 points.
  3. Go to Google Drive (from the Apps button in the upper right hand corner) and CREATE a new folder named: #ofPeriodLASTNAME and share the folder with dporfido@wood-ridgeschools.org 30 points.
  4. Create a new Google Doc (about what you expect to learn this semester), drag it into that shared folder. Confirm that the folder is shared and the doc is in there. 30 points.
If you are lost, confused, etc, ask me, or try and use HELP to assist you.

Welcome to TV Production & Communication Class! Bookmark this blog, we will be using it throughout the year.

2) Click here for the contract and print a copy on your own time. This must be signed by you and a parent/guardian before class on Tuesday September 9 and will be counted as a grade. Even if late, contracts MUST be turned in ASAP. Minus 1 grade for every day late.
