Web 2.0: Wiki Recap

Now that you have created your 1st Wiki, what are some other topics for your age group that would be a good fit for a wiki. Be specific about the topic and the entire wiki project

  1. Make sure it's not too broad. For example: 'sports' is too broad, simply into 'the history of lacrosse'
  2. What specific pages could be branched out from your home page? At least 6 would be good.
  3. How much information should be on each page?
Create a new post on your own blog to complete this.

Due Thursday April 25.

Web 2.0: Wikispaces (Period 7 Only)

Each group will sign up for 1 free wikispace account. Make sure you then go into the settings and make Private but add collaborators. Your partners and myself must be added.

The student in the group who's 1st name comes 1st in the alphabet will create the wiki. The full URL will be:
http://porfido7YI.wikispaces.com/ YI= Your Initials

Each group will get seven words to define using resources on the net so that you can understand the emerging concept of Web 2.0. Don't just list a definition. Provide examples, how it's used, the history, and any other relevant information about EACH term. Then include images, videos, and other multimedia to supplement your text.

  1. Blogosphere
  2. Wikis
  3. Social Bookmarking
  4. Podcasting
  5. RSS Feeds
  6. The Cloud or Cloud Computing
  7. Avatars

You will have a total of 8 pages for your Wiki.

Here are your guidelines:

1. Post meaningful, relevant information on their topic.
2. Summarize information you find on the Net and to LINK to it.
3. Continue to read your terms and ask yourself -- "What do I not understand about this topic?" and then to proceed to answer that question and post your findings.
4. Use some of the websites that you read about.
5. Don't delete information of another group member unless it was redundant or you paraphrased/edited it to make it better.
6. You will have to present their topic -- 5-10 minutes to summarize and demonstrate.
7. At the conclusion of each presentation, all students must post a comment on the page providing feedback or asking questions. (A feature and to keep you focused on the task at hand.)
8 Add images, videos, alter font styles and add links to enhance
