Computers 1- Week of 12/20/2010

1) Browse the Spreadsheet Templates for 2010-2011 and find the file 2010-2011 School Calendar
     - Choose This Template
     - Drag the file from All Items to your Excel Folder
2) Rename the file to: YOURLASTNAME 2010-2011 School Calendar
3) Using the calendar from today's date until the end of the school year, begin to add event into the individual cells.

Font Colors
-Use red for school events, due dates, days off, sports and extracurricular activities, etc.
-Use green for birthdays: your own, family, friends, etc
-Use blue for family events: vacations, day trips, reunions, etc.
-Use yellow for personal events: plans with friends, dates, etc.

Use the comment section for any questions.

Starting in 2011, all weekly tech assignments MUST be created in Google Docs and shared with me. No exceptions.

In addition, any disruption during another presentation will result in an additional assignment, informal assessment, and/or disciplinary action.

1) Wednesday & Thursday: Collaborative Google Doc Presentations
2) Friday: Weekly Current Technology Day

Period 2: Voki Project

Due Wednesday 12/15/2010 before 8:42 AM.

1) Create your own personalized Avatar
2) Create a 30-60 Second Recording (or typed in) about another subject and what you are learning this week
3) Save the Voki, get the code, post to your blog

Period 2: Podcast Posting

In order to post a podcast to your blog you must configure Blogger to support Podcasts:
1) Go into Blogger Settings
2) Click on the Formatting Tab
3) Set the Show Link Fields to Yes

The next step is to write a new blog post along with inserting a video with it (this may take a while to process and covert the video for Blogger).

Computers 1 - Week of 12/6

Collaborative Google Docs Presentation Project:

- Must choose 1 of the 4 PDF topics (shared with you on Google Docs) and follow the guidelines.
- Must use Google Docs Presentation Software
- Each member of the group will do an even amount of the work
- Be creative and go above and beyond
- Each group will present their projects to the class
- Due end of class Thursday

Do not forget weekly tech articles for this Friday.

Computers II - Audacity

First, you must create a recording. To test this out, begin by just having a 10-15 second recording, introducing yourself, etc.

To create your .mp3 file:
  1. Create a folder in My Documents with your initials
  2. Go to Google Docs and download the zipped up .DLL file
  3. Unzip the .DLL file to your folder in My Documents
  4. Go to Audacity and create a recording
  5. Go to File and Choose Export as .MP3 and save to your folder
  6. Follow the instructions
