Tech Lit - Creating Voki Avatars, Another Web 2.0 Tool

This Project Will Be Due Before Class on December 2.

  1. Create your own personalized Avatar on Voki.com
  2. Create a MAXIMUM 60 Voice Recording (or typed in) about another subject and what you are learning this week. Be specific! Be positive! Be creative! Be excited! To help prepare, write out a script first! Use the stopwatch on your cell phone to make sure you are close to the 60 second mark. 
  3. Save the Voki, get the embed code, and embed your Voki as a new post to your blog. Title it: MY VOKI
  4. Required Discussion Question for Comment Section:     - 
    • How can Voki be used in your other classes?

Web 2.0: Wiki Dissection

In pairs, visit this wiki.

Now dissect it. Visit all the pages & tabs and answer the following:
  1. What is the purpose of this Wiki?
  2. When was the last post?
  3. How was this Wiki created?
  4. What would you add to it?
  5. What did you learn from it?
  6. If you had to create a Wiki with a team, what would be the specific topic (s)?
  7. How can Wikis be used in the classroom or in education?

To complete:
  1. Please create a new blog post on the person's last name that comes 1st in the alphabet
  2. Title it: Wiki Dissection & Your Partners Initials
  3. Copy & paste questions
  4. Publish!

Tech Lit: Business Cards

Using your information from your new invention/business, create a sheet of business cards (from Google Drive templates). Be sure to:

  1. Use correct spelling
  2. Insert a logo
  3. Use an attractive design, but don't clutter the card with too much information
  • All template text must be changed to your product's information
  • Make sure your business card is in your folder

Web 2.0: Wiki Research


"Wiki wiki" means "quickly" in Hawaiian.... 


  1. How can a wiki be used in a current class on your schedule (not this course)? Pick a class and be specific how the class could create and use a Wiki on a regular basis (tip: Use the Internet, here is a good source).
  2. What are the benefits of using a wiki in class
  3. How can we create a wiki in this class, what would we contribute to it and how would we utilize it on an on-going basis?
  4. What experience do you have using or creating wikis?

Each student must answer in detail the above discussion questions on your own blog before you enter class on Friday.

Tech Lit & Web 2.0: Do Now, Blogging


Your assignment is to add multimedia to a NEW blog post.

You will:

1) Write a new Post about what you did over the weekend (or an upcoming vacation, trip, or similar). 1 Paragraph is fine.

2) Add an external text hyperlink to an outside website relating to what you did over the weekend  (or upcoming vacation, trip, or similar)

3) Insert an image relating to your weekend (or upcoming vacation, trip, or similar)

4) Embed a video related to your topic from YouTube or similar video site.

Done? Work on your technology blog posting for Friday.

2) Monday, November 10 begins a new marking period where you will be required to tape at least 4 outside of school event. Begin planning. First come, first served. No more than 2 people will get credit for taping a single event.

3) Before Wednesday, November 12, Using the 2 column script template...you are to share a Google DOC with me that contains a full script (audio, video, date of taping, etc) that you will be producing for November Blue Devil Nation. Be creative and plan!

  1. Please include times for your video with each frame movement
  2. Total video should be 3-5 minutes.
  3. No more than 3 people in a group
4) Before Wednesday's class, November 12, each student will read and outline (shared with me in Google Docs) or design a multimedia Google Presentation on Module 3: Capturing And Holding Viewer Attention
