Finding a Web 2.0 Tool...In Class Assignment Week of 3/2

As we have been discussing, there are numerous Web 2.0 tools out there. Examples are: Google Docs, Blogs, Diigo, Wallwisher, Voki, Blabberize, Glogster, and many many more!

Your task is to research Web 2.0 tools and how you would utilize the tool in specific academic content area. You can not choose Google Docs or Blogger since we have used them so far this semester. Here are 2 sites to begin your research:

Comment on this posting with your Web 2.0 Tool, Subject & Teacher you will use it for, How you will use it specifically, How it will help you to learn the content, and any other information you want to include. You may have to use the tool 1st in order to decide if it's a good fit for you. I will know if you haven't.

In Web 2.0 there are many tools to enhance communication between the students and the teachers. One of this tools is Skype. Skype is a downloadable software that will let you video chat with many people. Specifically, I would use this tool to talk to my friends and other people who I meet on PS3. It can help you learn content by leaving or sending text messages in order to tell the person something important. As soon as that person signs in or is online, a notification will pop up on Skype. The class that this tool is suitable for is any class that includes technology. Or in general any class. Skype is a good online tool that can also be connected to Facebook, YouTube, or anything else that is compatible with Skype.

I have used and will have to continue to use Blabberize for my Physical Science Honors class which Mrs.Sistarenik teaches. We have used that tool before in class, and she has mentioned that we will probably use it in the future for homework. I have used Wallwisher for my Geometry Honors class which Ms.Ames teaches for one homework assignment so far. Ms.Ames will probably use it again for future hoemwork assignments. For my English I Honors project for Great Expectations which Ms.Hunter teaches, we have to use the tool Glogster to create an online poster. I will use Wallwisher to comment on Ms.Ames' wall to answer a question that is for homework, use Blabberize to record my voice explaining a topic that we recently covered in Mrs.Sistarenik's class for homework, and Glogster to create an online poster as part of my English project. These will help me learn the content because I'm kind of summarizing the topic that we just covered, and presenting it to other people in the classroom which will help me learn the topic even more by teaching the actual topic. These tools will help me understand a topic more better.

I have used Glogster in Mrs. Gaven's Holocaust/Genocide class this year. We used it for a project that each student got a different stage and we had to do a poster about it. It helped us learn because we were able to understand everything that was on it. Also, you can change it as many times as you want unlike making a real poster where if you mess up you have to start all over again.

I have used Blabberize and Glogster this year. I have used Blaberize for a chemistry project in Mr. Falco's class. Instead of me and my partner talking the pictures of the scientists were. It was an interesting and helpful website. I have used Glogster in Mr. Osle's English class and Ms. Millar's Creative writing class. It's creaive and helpful in a classroom enviroment.

A good Web 2.0 Tool to use is Blabberize. Blabberize is a good tool to use because it allows you to present information in a new way. instead of just looking at a poster and a student reading off of it, Blabberize lets you watch a video that students make with the information on it. Blabberize takes pictures and brings them to life with the sound of the student's voice.

Web 2.0 has many ways to increase communication between people. Video chatting and playing massive online multi-player games is way to do this. In Mr.osle's class this year we used glogster. We made an interactive poster about beowulf and the ballad. it helped me get a better grip on this story. During our assembly for our senior class trip we skyped with the people in charge of the program who lived in arazona

I have used glogster in Mr. Osle's class to make a poster. On the list, I saw a potentially useful tool, Dropbox. It allows you to post documents, then retrieve them from any other computer.

I've used Glogster before for Mr. Bischoff's Economics class. We got to make posters online so that we didn't have to always meet up to create a poster at home.

Our generation likes to use the computers, and by using Skype, we can connect with one another just at home instead of always having to meet up with each other. And because you can see face to face and hear each other's voice, there won't be any misunderstandings in the tone of writing that people can sometimes read differently.

I have used voicethread in Ms. Garvin's class. She makes lessons using it by adding pictures related to the topic and adding a voice over to explain the topic. It helps me learn because in a regular class I could possibly miss something she said. With voicethread I can replay each slide to make sure I get everything. She also adds questions for us to answer that pop up throughout the voicethread so its basically a class without the classroom.

The Web 2.0 tool I have chosen to use is Animoto, which I've used before in my History Honors Class. I can use Animoto to make movies that can help me study for tests. It will help me learn the material more because I like to learn by watching things. I've used Animoto to make a video on Child Labor in the 1800's and it helped me get a good grade on the test I took about it.

I have used Glogster in Mrs. Gaven's Holocaust/Genocide class this year. Every group had to do a poster on a different a stage. It helped everyone learn and understand it better. It's better than doing a poster because if you mess up you can fix it you don't have to start all over. : )

I've used Animoto in Mr.Porter World History Honors Class, which is a Web 2.0 tools. Animoto is a website that is used to make short 30 second videos. When I used Animoto for History it helped me understand the Golden Age better than a Powerpoint or an Essay Paper. I will also be using Glogster for an upcoming English Project in Miss Hunter's Honors Class.

i have used glogster in mrs. garvins class to submit a project. earlier this year. i found that using glogster was easier to use then if you actually had to cut and glue the information onto an actual poster. also my handwriting is really bad so it made it easier for other people to read my poster.

I have used Glogster in Miss Hunter's English I class. We all had to make ads for paper clips and it was interesting to use that because everyone's was different and had nice backgrounds and the like. It was an easier way to understand what they were covering.

I have used Glogster before in Mr. Coll's class, Anatomy. My group and i used it because it not only broke down the part of the body that we were trying to explain but on glogster it has an aspect of creativeness to it so when we explained it to the class they not only paid attention but learned from it.It also doesn't take that long to do.

1. glogster
2. art
3. Mrs. Moreno
4. I would use it instead of creating artistic things such as posters and drawings. I am not an artistic person but glogster is extremely simple and even though i am not artistic i can create a nice presentable project that doesn't look like a 5 year old made it.
5. It would help me learn the content because it is easy and interesting to see how creative I can actually be when I have the ability to do almost anything. I would end up looking for stuff online which would help me with the material that i am supposed to learn.
6. I have used this tool before in English class and I did not mind doing a project on it.

I have used Glogster for Ms. Garvin's class project. Using Glogster is easier because the site has everything you need. You can type faster and upload pictures quicker then copy and paste. Glogster even has its own backround's, pictures, and bubbles for you to write in prepared on the site. I also have used Blabberize which is quick and easy because instead of talking infront of the class, you record your voice and the computer talks for you with just one click.

Web 2.0 is a very useful way to interact with people online. Web 2.0 allows you to share documents with others freely. For example i have used Skype. Skype is a form of video chatting with people all over the world for free, all you need to do is download to to your computer, create an usename and you are set to go. Skype is very suitable for any class because of its advanced software

The Web 2.0 Tool I chose is VoiceThread. This application allows you to do voice-overs with pictures showing. You can also circle things with colored markers and while the presentation plays and show people certain things they normally wouldn't notice. I have used this tool in my history class to do a report on a section in the chapter. We were assigned a topic and had to choose relevant pictures and do voice-overs explaining the information. We would listen to the other students' projects and learn about their topics. This is a useful tool for anyone looking to spice up a presentation.

My Web 2.0 tool I have used is Glogster, i have used this tool in My U.S. History 1 class. Glogster lets you make a type of poster without using paper, glue, and scissors etc. It is all online , it allows you to create almost anything you want. i have also used Blabberize. This tool allows you to record anything you want and you can also put cool animated pictures that also talk when your recording is being played.

Voki is a fun tool to use in Web 2.0. It could be useful English class with Miss Hunter, when reading stories such as Romeo and Juliet. Making a Voki to fit the role of specific characters or narrate in between parts. It's great for students who don't like acting, or don't want to read awkward lines or phrases. Vokis are interesting and come in many voices and features, so using one for class would never have to be boring.

The web 2.0 tool I will go with is Glogster. GLogster is a social network that allows users to create interactive posters or glogs. For instance I used this web 2.0 for my Holocaust/Genocide class for Ms. Gaven. We were asked to create a poster providing a sufficient amount of information, for the organization stage of a genocide. We were assigned partners and my partners and I added background, pictures, and informative genocidal events. Glogster helped my group do our project with good information and help interact with other glog users. Its a productive website and it should be applied for more in class assignments.

I used animoto in Mr.Porters class which is Web 2.0 tools. Animoto made things much more clear and cooler than a regular power point. It shows a lot of animation and gets the point across quickly. You have to pay for animoto but you can test it out with their free version, but its only a 30 second video. The good thing about animoto is that you don't have to pick all the different animations yourself, they pick it for you. But they allow you to choose your own song and pictures to go with it.

Google Squared is google's web 2.0 tool which is an informational database similar to the Wolfram Alpha tool, although I do not use google squared often it is a useful tool to have since when I go to college I can simply google square things and find out how to do things or gain information. The tool itself tries to organize the vast amount of information processed through google and create references to information and not websites.
