Web 2.0: Finding a Web 2.0 Tool...In Class Assignment Week of 3/2

As we have been discussing, there are numerous Web 2.0 tools out there. Examples are: Google Docs, Blogs, Diigo, Wallwisher, Voki, Blabberize, Glogster, Live Binders and many many more!

Your task is to research Web 2.0 tools and how you would utilize the tool in specific academic content area. You can not choose Google Docs, Blogger, or Voki.

Here are 3 sites to begin your research:
Comment on this posting with:
1) Your Name & Period
2) The Web 2.0 Tool, Subject & Teacher you will use it for
3) How you will use it specifically
4) How it will help you to learn the content/lesson/unit, and any other information you want to include.

You may have to use the tool 1st in order to decide if it's a good fit for you. I will know if you haven't and I will know if you copy and paste.

3)I actually used a glogster in her class about a month again. I explained a quote from the American Revolution. Instead of a boring essay I was able to add custom animation and pick a picture of the person that said the quote. I also put a music video. I was able to customize it and have fun with the project instead of just writing something. I've used it more than once since I like using it for school.
4) This helps because its better then just reading a essay or paragraph. It catches attention especially if you have music and bright colors. You don't get bored looking at one, if its make good, and you look at it carefully trying to see everything that is on it. You can also make it using your personalty or something that that matches what you are doing. Its a lot more fun then a regular paper.

The web 2.0 tool I will use is diingo. I will use this tool for period one, English class to take notes and make studying easier. It will help me study easier because the notes will be more organized and will be high lighted. By studying better notes I will get better grades in that class.

I use Glogster to specifically create an easy project. To be specific a quotation project, meaning looking a specific quote from the Revolutionary war and add all types of pictures and backgrounds. This tool does help out and makes a fun way of doing projects and possibly essays. It will help me learn in a fun and exclusive way. I do use it often for projects and am going to continue to use this Web2.0 tool.

3. During the month of October, two of my partners teamed up with me to make a presentation about our chapter we were reading. To do that, we have to look up answers to our questions and write them down. Then we record our voices into the microphone saving it to Voicethread.com
4. This project helped us because we worked together making an 8 minute presentation explaining all about our history in the chapter we have read

I used google Earth as a Web 2.0 tool. I would use it for WLD History (Porter). For his class i'd use it to see the path of the Spanish Armada. I didn't use this in class but I jave use it at home to see sights like Big Ben in London or even my house. It will help me see the distance between places.

Antonio Torres Period 2 The name of the web 2.0 tool is glogster. I have already used this for math class but it can be used for any project. You can use it to make a poster online instead of making a mess with a real poster. It helps you learn the material by having pictures and text to absorb in formation. Glogster is a very helpful tool.

Glogster is the tool I would use. I can use it for an Anatomy project (Mr. Colarusso) that requires a lot of pictures.

I will use it by adding a multitude of diagrams and explanatory pictures that can be easily elaborated on in my presentation.

This will help me learn the curriculum because it will provide a visual reference. To show most of the muscles or bones of the body a diagram is the best source of information. In addition to this I could put custom text to help remember any obscure information.

My web tool is diingo. I chose this because my teacher gives a lot of notes in one class. He goes very fast and I misplace or do not keep them organized all the time. This will help me keep them together. It will help me learn it better by studying them in chronological order.

3. We used VoiceThread to create a presentation about a certain topic that relates to the Colonial Life in the 17-19th centuries. We were able to add pictures, record our voices, and write on the picture as we talked to visually and audio-ally describe something.

4. VoiceThread allowed us to learn everyone's topics without being bored because you can press play when you want to hear your recorded information, and you can pause it if you want to add on and explain to the class yourself. Also, people drew on their pictures they uploaded to point out certain details about life in the colonial times.

Last year, in Ms. Garvin's class, we had to create an account on Blabberize.com. Blabberize allows you to upload a picture of a person and make it look like it is talking. We did this with a person that we were assigned. My person was Theodore Roosevelt. The experience of Blabberize is very fun and useful in many teaching methods.

In my English class we had to use Turnitin.com to hand in our research paper. The point of turnitin.com is to stop plagiarism. This website is useful to help kids learn how to write instead of copying and pasting from websites, or copy things from books.

Diigo would help me in saving a bunch of websites for research papers and it lets a group of people in the project view your saved sites so they can go on them if they are working with you on the same project.

This website is to send word documents to the teacher that assigned you an assigment, such as essays or research papers. On this website the teacher is able to see an estimated percentage of how much the students paper is plagiarised. It also corrects the students grammar, etc.
This helps to make your paper or essay more original, and see your misake before handing the paper in
