TV P&C: 3 Elements of a Story...

Watch a movie, TV Show, or newscast and identify whether the storyteller includes the 3 elements.
- Identify at least 1 conflict in detail.
- What aspect of the show made you care about it?
- Was there material in the video that could have been left out?
-What would you change about the video?

Post as a comment to my blog. Due before class Tuesday (after lecture).

I watched a video from channel 7 news on a 17 month year old baby who was recently shot in the head from a stray bullet.

It does list the conflict in detail even though they only have 1 suspect and not caught the shooter.

This video had caught my attention when I heard it had to do with a baby being shot because she couldn't have possibly done anything wrong to be shot for.

Everything they put in the video was important information.

I would have more interviews from the people who were at the scene.

I watched a video on CNN.com and it was about how a group of white teenagers beat up and killed an African American.
A conflict they mentioned was that the the Victim's family does not want to have anyone receive the death penalty.
I wanted to watch this video when i saw it had something to do with a hate crime.
Most of the information the video mentioned was important.
I don't think the video needed any changes.

I watched The Office on channel 5, where there was a fire in the kitchen and they all had to go to the parking lot. While waiting for the fire to go out they learned more about each other.
The funny aspect of the show made me care about it, because there's nothing better then a funny show.
No this episode really had no extra footage that didn't need to make. Everything fit together and made it a great episode.
Although there are many different ways you could change the episode, how they did it was perfect. The only other thing i would have had happened, was someone get hurt coming out of the office and make it funny in that effect.

i watched mean girls.
the conflict was the different groups that go on in school and how different people are. the 3 main girls are really mean to everyone who they don't like and in the end the 3 girls go their own way and no more problems.
the movie is by far the best one created and i love how funny it is
i wouldn't change a single thing about it, and everything that was in it shouldn't be cut out.

I watched an episode of Family Guy. During the show, Stewie and Brian got stuck in a bank vault together and had to survive there until someone found them the next day. This show is not serious at all, which is why it made the situation funny. There was material that could have been left out of course because many scenes on Family Guy can be left out. Although there could be material that could be left out, I wouldn't change anything about the video. This is a funny show that always has ridiculous situations happening.

I watched a news broadcast on channel 11 about an apartment building that was having an address change. The conflict was that no one in the building was receiving their mail since all their mail was being sent to the prior address. Also many people in the building were upset because all of their information such as passports, license, ect. had the old address. I cared about it because the fact that the address was randomly being changed was strange. No all the material was covered throughout the video. I wouldn't change anything about it since everything was covered perfectly.

i watched the movie what happens in vegas. A guy and girl meet in vegas and get married and cant get a divorce. They have to stay married for 6 months in order to get a divorce.

I found the fact that they had to stay married funny so i wanted to see what would happen to them.

The movie had enough material in it.

I wouldn't change anything about the movie because it was fine the way it was.

I watched the video of a bunch of civilians lifting a burning car off of a person.
The conflict was the accident.
I cared about it because I found it interesting that people would risk their lives for a stranger.
No there was nothing in the video that could have been left out.
I would change nothing, because the civilians were very brave.

I watched a newscast of a man who was trapped under a burning car and several people that saw it lifted the car off of the man and saved his life.
-One conflict would be the burning car that was stuck on top of the man.
-What made me care about it was the fact that it was a shocking thing to see. They also used words to hype it up such as "this horrific scene".
-I think the lengthy B-Roll could have been left out. They showed the people trying to lift it, but they never showed when they actually did. It would have been more interesting if they showed it.
-I would change the fact that they never showed the car being lifted and the man being saved. It was hyped up by the newscasters and the beginning of the video, and they never showed it.

I watched George Lopez.
The conflict of the show was how George had to fire his own mother from her job.
What made me care about the show was seeing how George would fire his mother and how the mother would take it.
No there was nothing in the show that was left out.
I wouldn't change anything because it was a great episode.

I watched The Last Song. The conflict was that the girl's dad was sick and she was having trouble getting close to her father because her parents were separated. what made me care was the fact that my parents had almost been separated as well. everything in this movie was important because it teaches you many lessons throughout the whole thing. I don't feel anything in this movie should be left out.

I watched corpse bride. The conflict was a Victor, young groom to be, runs away on his wedding day, only to meet the corpse bride, in which he gets trapped in the strange and wonderful world of the dead.

What made me care was that it was really sad because the corpse bride was really in love with Victor, but willingly gave him up to his actual bride.

There's nothing i would've left out.
I wouldn't change anything.

I just watched Glee. The conflict was one of the teachers was trying to get rid of the arts and music program in the school. She felt like it wasn't needed. However, the students in the arts and music program didn't agree with her.

I care about this show because it has problems/conflicts that many students can relate.

There isn't any material that I would leave out.

There isn't anything that I would change.

I watched the movie The Little Giants. The conflict in the movie was that during pee wee football tryouts coach O'Shea didn't take all the kids. He cut players he didn't think were good and he treated them unfairly. The main person he cut was his niece who was better then most of the boys but the coach (her uncle) said she is a girl and football is not the sport for her and that she should be cheering. Many kids were left without a team. The kids who did not make the team started their own team but the town would only allow one team. The conflict came in when they had to face off to see which team would represent the town.

I cared about the fact that girls and non athletics kids are treated unfairly and the fact that not matter the team or players anyone can win on any given day it only takes one time.

It's a funny movie for all ages and I think everything in it was just perfect for the film. I would not have left out anything.

I would have not changed anything I especially liked how they ended it by making the viewer think what happen next.

I watched the movie "A walk to remember" and the conflict in this movie is when Jaime the main character finds out that she is dying of Leukemia.
What made me care about this movie was when: Landon, Jaime's boyfriend takes care of her and stays with her even when he finds out that she has Leukemia.
I liked the movie very much and think that they should not leave anything out.
I would make the ending of the movie longer and show how Landon copes with Jaime's death.

i watched the hangover 1 and it was 4 bestfriends, doug, allen, stew and phil. The were called the 4 man wolfpack. They go to les vegeas for doug's bachelor party and the next day they wake up and couldn't find doug. They searched for hours and he was not found. That was the conflict. The movie was very interesting because you didnt know what was going to happen next. I cared how the 3 friends allen phil and stew didn't give up on doug and later in the movie he was found. I wouldn't changed a thing i thought the director did a great job.

I watched the new Fox show the X factor. Its a competition between singers from ages 12 and up. The better you are the further along the judges send you. Leading up to america voting for your faith. On this episode a guy flashes the judges and the crowd. Making one of the Judges puke. Some of the people they put on the show are funny to make there a comedy aspect of the show. Other people have stories that you cant help want the person to get threw. Some people can relate to these peoples stories so they judges will send them threw because they know people will like them and connect to them. Some of the funny singers could be taken out because it is a more serious show, with a prize of 5 million dollars. This was only the first show of many and each week will bring new drama. So right now we are left to know nothing that will happen next. The show is on every tuesday and wednesday.

I just watched channel 7 news and they were talking about the basketball player who had got killed about 10 days ago. The conflict the news had mentioned was the killer had not been identified yet. This part of the news was the only part I listened to, she was fatally shot by someone who mistaken her as a male rival because of her athletic built and the hoodie she was wearing over her head. She was shot in her Harlem apartments, she was only 18 years old and her basketball abilities were taking her somewhere. She was being recruited by top colleges. Her family thought she was going to be the ticket of getting their family out of the projects but her life was taken too early. The segment of the news about Tayshana “Chicken” Murphy death was short and mentioned all important things about the tragic murder of a very talented basketball player.I would not want to change anything about the newscast, it was very informative.
